DIEGO and EVI
DIEGO MASTRANGELO
Diego Mastrangelo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentine Republic,
on March 6, 1974.
In 1994 he starts his dance studies at the Municipal School of
Dances "Jose Neglia" in the suburbs of Buenos Aires. For a year he
studied with Aurelio and Delma, teachers that danced through the
golden period of tango in Buenos Aires, breathing and making you
breathe the authentic essence of the tango in each one of their
lessons.
Then he starts taking Osvaldo Coelho's lessons. Osvaldo was renowned
for his unique and aesthetic way of moving. For three years he will
keep attending to his lessons, period of time during which he
becomes his assistant.
In 1998 starts to teach a reduced group of young students, in
Caballito neighborhood.
In 1999 meets Fabian Salas, Gustavo Naveira and also Mariano "Chicho"
Frumboli and is taught the principles of the dance system known
worldwide as "Cosmotango" (lately tango nuevo). The same year
performs tango for the first time at the University of Buenos Aires
-UBA.
Is invited to work as an assistant in the 2000 International
Argentine Tango Congress (CITA).
Then he continues his education with the exceptional artist Cesar
Coelho, and attends to several classes with many other renowned
teachers. At the same time is hired to perform three times a week in
a exclusive cabaret of Recoleta neighbourhood, where he stays until
April 2001, when he travels to Greece.
Between April and July 2001 performs all over Greece together with
Romina Tumini (Athens, Bolos, Larissa, Thessaloniki, Kabala, Lamia, Peloponnese, Pilio and Crete).
That year he is selected to participate in the opera "Carmen" at the
Music Palace of Thessaloniki, during November and December 2001 and
March 2002.
In 2002 he is chosen to be the protagonist of a TV commercial for
the Greek company "Pablidis", for their product "Gioconda chocolats",
dancing tango.
At the 2003 International Dance Research Congress (CID-UNESCO) held
at Naksos Island he presents a research paper concerning the
evolution of tango technique in the last 15 years, showing the way
tango follows ballet's history of structured development,
identifying and organizing its bases.
Teaches for four years at Eleftheriu Kordeliu Municipality of
Thessaloniki, having the chance to work with groups of people at
regular lessons for 8 months a year, taking them from zero to
advanced level.
In 2005 he is selected again for a second TV add, this time for
Shoes Company "Elite", dancing tango.
During 2005 and 2006 is invited regularly to local TV shows to talk
about Argentine Tango.
Since 2006 is invited two times a year to teach in Estonia, for 15
days.
In 2007 he starts presenting his work with Evi Anesti, his present
dance partner, in different theaters of the city.
In 2008 is invited to perform together with the string quartet and
bandoneon at the National Orchestra of Thessaloniki, in a tribute to
Argentine tango music.
Coming from a family of music teachers, from a tender age he
treasured the process of knowledge's transmission, in other words,
he loves teaching.
He has taught around 5000 hours of group lessons and more than 3500
hours of private lessons already,
that is within his last 13 years as a teacher.
EVI ANESTI
She was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1988.
She started her ballet education at the age of 7, and later on she
took Contemporary dance lessons.
She performed repeatedly with her school at Thessaloniki´s Concert
Hall, National Theather of Northen Greece and Radio city among
others.
In March 2006 she met Diego Mastrangelo and started private lessons
with him. A few months later she was offered to become Diego´s dance
partener.
Since then, she has performed with him around Greece (Athens,
Thessaloniki, Kabala, Syros etc.) and abroad (Estonia, Finland).
In July 2007 they took part in the “Tango Greece Festival”
performing and teaching.
She also took lessons with Chicho Mariano Frumboli, Lucia Mazer,
Sebastian Arce, Mariana Montes, Julio Balmaceda, Corina de la Rosa
etc.
They took part in Leigo Music Festival in Estonia, with a half hour
solo performace.
In December 2008 they visited Buenos Aires, Argentina, and were
invited to perform at the UNSAM, National University of San Martin,
Buenos Aires.
In March 2008 the National Orchestra of Thessaloniki made a tribute
to tango and invited them to perfom with a string cuartet and
bandoneon.
In summer 2008 they took part in the First Interamerican Dance
Competition (Athens-CID-UNESCO). They got the first place dancing ¨Primavera
Porteña¨ by Astor Piazzolla.
She was also awarded as "Best Female Dancer" of the entire
competition.
She attends to Kafantari´s Professional Ballet School in order to
get the highest ballet diploma in Greek dance education system. |
